After This Is Spinal Tap and
Drop Dead Gorgeous, a genuinely funny mockumentary was
impossible to find until ...And God Spoke came along.
At the beginning, the filmmakers' goal was to show everything from the Bible, despite not knowing
any tenets of Christianity, but they had to cut out a lot due to falling behind schedule and being closed off
from finances. Therefore, their vision of a "Biblical epic" got botched.
Many parts are amusing although the arc is too familiar by recalling many failures encountered by the band in
This Is Spinal Tap. Well-known faces are hard to come by, but the
following four can be recognized: Eve "Everybody Keeps Calling Me Jan" Plumb, Lou Ferrigno, Andy Dick, and
Chris Kattan. I don't normally find Andy Dick funny, but he is this time.
At least, there's a happy conclusion that the "worst film ever" had found a way to make the money back
and became highly profitable by achieving cult status. You may think of this frivolous, but it does happen.
The best example is The Room by Tommy Wiseau that's especially
helped by his co-star's book The Disaster Artist.
All in all, although not genius like This Is Spinal Tap,
...And God Spoke is a noble effort by everybody involved.
