MoonRising
7/25: After Tommy Lee Jones won the Oscar for The Fugitive, it's easy to be tempted by looking back at his body of work

One thing is for sure: he starred in a lot of stinkers. Among them is Black Moon Rising. What got my eye during the opening credits is John Carpenter's name for coming up with a very stupid story. Ironically, a restaurant is mentioned at the beginning, and that has to be a reference to a better film called The Betsy which starred Tommy Lee Jones, dealing with cars.

I don't know how anyone can drive in that idiotic futuristic car. In fact, IMDb mentions: "The stunt driver of the Black Moon had virtually no idea where he was going as he was in a semi-recumbent position whilst driving. His windshield was also made of Plexiglass that reflected every single surface, obscuring his vision even more."

After Tommy Lee Jones' character slipped the valuable disk in the rear of Black Moon, that's when the movie died. The rest of the way is a series of "are you shitting me?" incidents including the fight when Lee Ving and his men proceeded to kick Tommy Lee Jones in the balls at least five times. Yet what a cast: Tommy Lee Jones, Linda Hamilton, Robert Vaughn, Richard Jaeckel, Keenan Wynn, Lee Ving, and Bubba Smith. How did a nobody director by the name of Harley Cokliss manage to collect them all in one place?

All in all, Black Moon Rising may be watchable, but it lacks intelligence.
