Buffalo '66 showcases the talent that Vincent Gallo has for filmmaking.
Shot in twenty-three days, it's a unique movie that's dark and gritty with surreal characters. Although the pace is slow
at times, the atmosphere, the story, the cast, and the direction are sensational. There's an aesthetic
quality which makes it real. So, it's a good job by cinematographer Lance Acord in his feature film debut.
Buffalo '66 represents a dying breed of such filmmakers. There have been a lot of fine pictures over the years,
but as cinema transitions to the digital age, it may be among the last true high-quality independent pictures.
All in all, Vincent Gallo shows in Buffalo '66 that he has passion for the dark, gritty subject matter.
