Convicts is the most brain-dead movie I've seen in my life.
Hey, I'm a big fan of Robert Duvall, but this is so retarded. A routine conversation between his character and the boy
is like this:
"What was his name?"
"Paul Horace Robedaux, sir."
"Your daddy's dead?"
"Yes, sir."
"Now, who the hell are you?"
"Horace, sir."
"What was your daddy's name?"
"Paul Horace. Paul Horace Robedaux."
"What's your name again?"
"Horace, sir."
"What was your daddy's name?"
"Paul Horace. Paul Horace Robedaux."
"Your daddy's dead?"
"Yes, sir."
It's the same thing over and over like a broken record throughout the film, and I'm not kidding. The best explanation of why Robert
Duvall agreed to take on the role for Horton Foote, an overrated screenwriter, is that he won the Best Actor Oscar for
his other play Tender Mercies and did Convicts as a favor.
All in all, who wants to watch a film about a fully senile man?
