Personally, I'm not a fan of comic book movies and find them fucking ridiculous.
But Darkman, a box-office hit in 1990 probably due to the marketing campaign and great-looking trailer, is the only one
I can think of that actually rises above the cream of crap. The movie works well for the most part, and I like the story.
However, it's the last twenty minutes that lost me, thus garnering '7' from me when it should have been '8'.
What I like the most is the special effects for setting the tone. The title sequence, which was created by Pablo Ferro of
Bullitt fame, is outstanding. Before Liam Neeson was Oskar Schindler, he was Darkman. He does a good job, but check
out his teeth, especially the lower ones.
All in all, Darkman is an edgy comic book thriller, but the last twenty minutes needs work.
