When I saw the trailer for Joy Ride, I laughed.
Going for it afterwards, I became mostly turned off. It's the dumb script I couldn't stand...so much babble.
Steve Zahn is an annoying guy, no matter how cool he seems to be. After Paul Walker and Leelee Sobieski hooked
up for the first time, I was like, "Wow, an all-time bad actor meets an all-time bad actress."
Apparently, the story is I Saw What You Did meets
Duel. There's no way a common trucker would be omniscient in
spite of rarely driving behind the 1971 Chrysler Newport. That's genius-like level, prompting me to ask
this question: "Why is he wasting time on the road?"
No matter how much these two idiot male teenagers were being hunted down, I failed to generate sympathy for them.
The girl had nothing to do with it, having been caught in the middle of their mess. All I thought of was, "Why
not go to the police station and just stay there?"
All in all, Joy Ride is neither suspenseful nor believable.
