1/26: Look Who's Talking was a top five box-office hit in 1989 but had been totally forgotten since then.

Why is that? The movie is simply bad. It's rather annoying, especially when babies talk. Oddly, every time a thought is said aloud, it never matches what a baby actually said. I had Amy Heckerling in my Worst Directors list, and my instincts proved to be correct again.

Even worse is Kirstie Alley. She isn't a certified actress, relying on her green eyes to get through all of her scenes. Hence, she belongs in TV, and Cheers proves it. I don't appreciate her husband-seeking loser character; the worst is when she's discriminatory against the babysitter because obviously he's Italian compared to the old-looking Albert who's white in the most American way.

Therefore, it's John Travolta doing most of the heavy lifting. He's good but has a hopeless role. In fact, he was in a career slump throughout the 80's, and this is the one that earned him the moniker "Comeback Kid," having done it after Pulp Fiction came out to get him out of yet another slump. Afterwards, John Travolta was magically transformed into a true movie star with a long string of blockbuster hits.

All in all, Parenthood did it so much better than Look Who's Talking.
