After watching 331 episodes of ER, I started to look for anything by Anthony
Edwards from the 80's, and the answer was Miracle Mile.
You can now ignore the positive reviews; they are all wrong. It's a very, very, very bad
movie. The biggest mistake is the unserious tone that's complemented by the heavy 80's vibe although the
premise works. However, I couldn't tell many times if the phone call was meant to be prank and Harry Washello
had lost his mind over nothing.
I like the last twenty minutes, but unfortunately, it's too little, too late. Nobody can do all of that
stuff in the span of one hour. Better or more interesting films
have been done such as The Day After,
Testament, and
When Worlds Collide. Let's not go there when it comes to
Threads which is very slow-paced. Most of all, I'm constantly reminded of
Kiss Me Deadly.
Anthony Edwards is fine, but it's Mare Winningham who fucking sucks as an actress and has one of the worst
hairdos ever in screen history. Plus, she plays a retarded character and is thus not worth saving. Mare Winningham
would show up again with Anthony Edwards in four episodes of ER before marrying for
real in 2021.
All in all, ridiculous or not, Miracle Mile makes for a one-time viewing.
