10/26: Remember Frank Booth in Blue Velvet?

Dennis Hopper serves up somebody similar in Paris Trout. Because of him, it's an easy to movie to watch given that just about everything feels made-for-TV. In fact, it was originated by Showtime. If there's anything that's hard to believe, it's the black mother and daughter surviving the gunshot wounds for a while.

Also, it's a good example of the Southern Gothic genre by taking place in Georgia with black people at the mercy of white man's justice. Everything shown is simply backwards logic that's hard to swallow from start to finish. I suppose this is how it was back then down there.

How about the lawyer played by Ed Harris? I feel like slapping him in the face because of his righteousness. It's the way he puts the words together. On the other hand, showing the shooting at the house isn't necessary since there's a trial about it. Not having been there, the white jurors are left to decide on the facts of the case, and that should include me.

All in all, Dennis Hopper exemplifies bigotry in Paris Trout.
