The most cringe thing an actor can do is pretending to be a famous movie character.
That's what Jon Abrahams did by dressing like Steve McQueen in Bullitt.
Why??? It's so stupid, being among the downfalls of Scenes of the Crime. Every time his face was shown
along with the outfit, I could only roll my eyes.
Is this a play or what? The way everybody talks and does things, I might say so. At least, there are several
decent performances, especially by Noah Wyle, Jeff Bridges, and Brian Goodman. The rest of the supporting cast
is fine. Only R. Lee Ermey's character makes no sense.
Granted, it's a slow-paced film because nearly all are just sitting in either the vehicle or the deli
and passing the time until something happens in the final twenty minutes. However, thanks to the quality of
dialogue, I became interested in the long run, but the director made the mistake of giving it an abrupt ending. I
was never interested in Lenny's fate. Once Jimmy Berg was killed, the movie was over.
All in all, Scenes of the Crime feels like a "prove-it" picture for fledgling director Dominique Forma, and
he didn't succeed.
