Pool
6/05: Signaling the end of the franchise, The Dead Pool is better than Magnum Force and The Enforcer.

Clint Eastwood is vintage Dirty Harry once again. He has great lines and works well with everybody. Liam Neeson is memorable while Jim Carrey makes a hopped-up cameo appearance. During the funeral scene, members of Guns N' Roses can be spotted.

All in all, Dirty Harry Callahan goes out in the sunset with the best line of The Dead Pool: "Maybe I'll start my own dead pool, and put you on it."

1/26: I saw The Dead Pool back then at a theatre and knew of Jim Carrey and Liam Neeson before they hit big in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Schindler's List, respectively.

The writing is excellent. Despite Sudden Impact being the best sequel of the franchise, The Dead Pool is actually the closest to Dirty Harry in feel. There are a lot of memorable scenes, but the coolest is the R/C car that's packed with C-4, setting up for a pretty good car chase that's the total opposite of Bullitt. How about the suicide attempt by Gus Wheeler?

All in all, Clint Eastwood goes out with a bang in The Dead Pool.
