12/25: That's how they used to make action movies during the 80's.

I thought about giving The Delta Force a '7', but it's very mundane. The all-star cast helps as it includes Lee Marvin, Chuck Norris and his special motorbike, Robert Forster, Martin Balsam, Joey Bishop, Robert Vaughn, Shelley Winters, George Kennedy, and Bo Svenson. That's four Oscar winners in all. Bonus points if you can spot Liam Neeson. Hint: he's in the cotton field at the end.

It's the final screen appearance for Lee Marvin which is fitting given his famous association with The Dirty Dozen. The less of Chuck Norris is shown, the better by becoming a collaborative effort. The last time I saw The Delta Force is when it came out, and I didn't realize the terrorist leader was played by Robert Forster.

The plane hijacking as depicted on screen, which did happen for real on June 14, 1985, looks realistic, but I have a hard time understanding how everybody went from one situation to another. Can it be the terrorists were inept, or this is a case of choppy editing? At least, Menahem Golan knows how to make everything authentic through languages, customs, and locations by filming entirely in Israel.

All in all, The Delta Force needs to be shorter by thirty minutes in order to play better.
