I thought I signed up for an action picture?
Parts one and two of The Equalizer franchise are more opposite than
similar. About 90% of the time is taken up by talking about mundane matters. Then, Denzel Washington does
what he's supposed to be doing. Overall, it's a very boring movie to sit through. I had given up
an hour into it, having been confused by the muddled plot. Sometimes, I didn't know whether the setting was
Boston or Washington, D.C.
The most ridiculous aspect is the final half hour. So, Richard McCall is able to secure his hometown by the
beach for the ultimate battle, and it's totally abandoned? To be honest with you, the tropical storm effect
looks fake; this must have been added during post-production because Denzel Washington never looks
bothered by the rain, the wind, and the flying debris.
$115? Is that what the black kid is getting to paint the wall in McCall's apartment? Please...talk about
highway robbery, especially in Boston. After being kidnapped and shot in the leg without receiving professional
medical care afterwards, he ought to stay away from McCall as far as possible because that dude
is extremely dangerous.
All in all, Antoine Fuqua should've stuck with what worked in the first part for The Equalizer 2 while
cutting Lyft completely out of the picture.
