Back then, The Karate Kid was laughably corny to watch.
And now, it's not bad although there are several scenes that still make me cringe. I understand the subtlety as to why
Mr. Miyagi had Danielle do a specific job in a certain way.
The Karate Kid will always be the film that Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio are remembered for the rest of their lives.
The latter, one of the worst actors ever to grace the 80's, does a decent job of behaving in a particular way in order for
his character to work.
As for the negatives, I find it hard to believe Danielle, a total wimp with mere two months of training, can
defeat all the experienced boys in karate. It's not likely.
All in all, The Karate Kid gets the point across, but it's so corny.
