The King of Marvin Gardens reminds me a lot of Five Easy Pieces, but
Atlantic City is better as they're both similar films.
Everybody is great. There's no taking away from their performances. They're the core. For director Bob Rafelson,
The King of Marvin Gardens is autobiographical in nature. So, don't be surprised if the movie doesn't make sense.
This is what happens.
Sadly, Julia Ann Robinson, the girl with Ellen Burstyn, died in an apartment fire that was caused by faulty thermostat
three years after the completion of The King of Marvin Gardens. Obviously, everybody has played Monopoly and is familiar
with the names of all properties. But here's a trivia that I bet they never knew: Marvin Gardens is a misspelling of Marven Gardens.
Go ahead, look it up.
All in all, it's the performances that got me through The King of Marvin Gardens.
