John Matrix returns to wreak havoc in Colombia.
The problem? He's too fat, old, and out of it. Stick a fork in Arnold Schwarzenegger. Collateral Damage
proves his days of making action-adventure pictures are over. Anything going forward is strictly a cash-grab
job. While at it, the former Mr. Olympia should learn how to express his character's feelings properly after
his wife and son had died in a terrorist bomb attack instead of shrugging it off.
Cinematography-wise, everything looks so fake, causing me not to believe what's happening on screen. At one
point, John Leguizamo dominated the show with his glib talk before being shot in the chest.
That should teach him with Arnold Schwarzenegger yelling, "This is my movie!"
I have to laugh at the presence of Miguel Sandoval as an FBI Special Agent dealing with the issues in
Colombia. He used to be Ernesto Escobedo, a very powerful Colombian drug lord, in
Clear and Present Danger. By the way, you can be forgiven
for thinking El Lobo was played by Art Malik from True Lies. It's
not him but Cliff Curtis.
All in all, if it were the 80's, Collateral Damage would've been passable as a sequel to
Commando, but age and health issues had caught up with Arnold
Schwarzenegger this time.
